To enter this challenge, is it necessary to provide a free version of the app?

  I e-mailed them asking the same thing, and I received the response of yes, we do need to provide a free version of the app.

  Can any of the moderators help confirm - does the app have to be free to public? I went through the current rule. I didn't see such a requirement. If it has to be free, then it will limit a lot of potential great apps to enter the competition. Thanks in advance for your clarification.

  Yes, it is necessary for the app to be provided free to the public and without the need for the ourchase of additional equipment.
